Appointed Members of the Board of Retirement
Four members of the Board of Retirement are appointed by the
Board of Supervisors. These members must be qualified electors of
the County and cannot be connected with County government in any
capacity.
Appointed Board members serve for a fixed term of three
years. In general, the Board of Supervisors limits their
appointees to twelve years of service.

Elected Members of the Board of Retirement
Six members of the Board of Retirement are elected by the
differing active and retiree SamCERA membership groups. The
elections for the general, safety, safety alternate, retired, and
retired alternate members are held in accordance with the Board’s
regulations.
Elected Board members serve for a fixed term of three years.
There is no limit in the number of terms an elected member can
serve.
